Small Business Website Design

In the summer of 2017, Shawn and Alessandra came to me needing a new website for their LA based architecture business. The Ames-Peterson website had been redesigned relatively recently, but the finished product wasn't quite on brand or fully "polished". The overall goal with another website redesign was to elevate the brand online to reflect the quality of the firm's work.

Shawn had a really good idea of what he was looking for, so we chose a template together. After that, I mocked up several ideas of what the color scheme and navigation could look like using real content. The old website had a yellow and brown color scheme that just wasn't on brand with Ames-Peterson's logo, which features mostly teal and brick red. I designed a few options around this color scheme and let Shawn and Alessandra choose their favorite.

We wanted to make sure that the new website laid out all the projects in a clean, organized, and consistent manner.  We used a simple grid format to lay out the portfolio and big beautiful pictures to entice users to click.

Shawn wanted a project map to showcase the firm's international presence. I found an online mapping service that allows you to plot multiple locations on a map that can be color coded and pop-up with more information when clicked.

We’re extremely happy with Kelly’s work on our new website. The website is easy to use, mobile-friendly, and includes all the custom add-ons we requested. Kelly is extremely responsive and worked with us to make sure we understood how to maintain and update the site ourselves. We can’t recommend her more!
